Set atop the high ridges of Lengijave, this project captures sweeping 360-degree views of Mount Meru and the Rift Valley. Designed as a minimalist hilltop retreat, the architecture sits lightly on the landscape, using slender steel framing and elevated platforms to preserve the natural terrain. Expansive glazing opens the interiors to the surrounding sky and scenery, creating an immersive connection with nature while maintaining a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
Drawing inspiration from climate-responsive design principles, the Lengijave project is shaped by its environment—constant winds, high elevation, intense sunlight, and wide temperature swings. Every structural and spatial decision responds to these conditions. The steel superstructure provides exceptional stability in the exposed setting, while deep overhangs and strategically placed openings moderate sunlight and frame shifting views throughout the day.
Interior spaces follow an open layout that brings together living, dining, and resting areas in a single continuous flow, allowing light and landscape to define the atmosphere. Warm, tactile finishes contrast with the surrounding raw terrain, creating a calm refuge within the vast openness of the hilltop. Outdoor decks extend this experience further, offering seamless transitions between indoor comfort and the dramatic natural environment.
By combining engineering precision with an appreciation for the site’s wild beauty, the Lengijave development embodies a contemporary architectural approach that feels both grounded and elevated—a place where nature, structure, and space exist in harmonious balance.

The Lengijave development is envisioned as a boutique hilltop retreat comprising five standalone rooms, built in carefully planned phases to ensure minimal disturbance to the site’s natural contours and vegetation. Rooms 1–4 are designed as intimate single units, while Room 5 offers a larger double suite positioned for the most expansive views. A central pool and elevated public deck form the social heart of the property, providing shared spaces for guests to enjoy the dramatic highland scenery. Supporting elements—including discreet parking, pathways woven between existing trees, and a compact back-of-house zone—are integrated sensitively into the landscape. The overall plan balances privacy and openness, creating a sequence of experiences that flow from secluded rooms to communal outdoor spaces, all while preserving the site’s natural character.
