Ngaramtoni House

2.jpg

Ngaramtoni House is a contemporary four-bedroom residence positioned at the foot of Mount Meru, facing west toward the sweeping views of the Monduli mountain range. The design embraces openness, natural light, and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living, making full use of the site’s gentle contours and its dramatic highland setting.

Built around a warm palette of timber, stone, and large-format glazing, the house achieves a refined balance between modern architectural lines and the lush vegetation surrounding the property. Deep verandahs wrap around both levels, creating generous shaded spaces while framing uninterrupted vistas of the western landscape.

Design & Spatial Experience

The ground floor is organised around an open-plan living and dining area, where full-height sliding doors dissolve the boundary between the interior and the outdoor seating terrace below. The kitchen occupies a central position, acting as a social anchor that maintains visual and physical connection with the surrounding spaces, as shown in the ground-floor layout.

A spacious guest suite sits privately on the opposite wing, opening onto its own portion of the verandah. The deep outdoor terraces—visible in the site layout with their surrounding softscape and walkways—extend the living experience outward and create a continuous flow around the building.

On the upper level, three bedrooms look outward toward the west, each benefiting from panoramic sunset views. The master suite features a large private balcony and an expansive bathroom overlooking the landscape. The first-floor balcony running along the western façade, as shown in the drawings, creates a continuous viewing deck, making the upper level feel elevated and immersed in the surrounding tree canopy.
